'Draft' project status to scenario plan work

Draft project status

So you’ve got a nagging fear that your upcoming project will go over time and budget. We’ve got your fixer-upper kit.

With Draft project status, you can scenario-plan all your project contingencies—like budget, timeline, or resources—inside the Project plan before they hit the Schedule.

Use the Draft status to:

  • Budget for resources: add people to a draft project with their corresponding billable rates. They won’t get notified, but you’ll get a better idea of how much you need to budget based on the rates of the people assigned.
  • Predict timelines: launch a standard project template in draft status, then adjust the timing to your upcoming work. When you’re happy with the project and ready to notify those involved, move it to Tentative so it appears on the Schedule.

Pro tip: not sure exactly who to allocate to a project yet? Add your free Placeholders as resources in your draft project until you’re ready to build your project team.

👀 Here’s a look at how your draft projects appear on the Project plan. In the example below, the draft project we created is the [Core] Payment Interface project.
